It’s great to have an opportunity to share our client success stories – especially when they prove people wrong! Joanne is one such example. She proved that regardless of having her own business, she could make time to exercise and plan her food. She also showed us that it definitely does NOT slow down when you get older! Loosing 10inches from her body, nearly a stone in weight and loosing 6% body fat in 12 weeks is incredible!! Here’s what she thought of her Do It In 12 journey.

Why Motive8?

On my day off I decided to google a gym that was close to home, where I could either walk to or drive.  I found MOTIVE8 website and liked what I saw; so promptly rang for some information.  I had a quick informal chat, explaining what I needed from a personal trainer, and most importantly, I could attend the gym sessions without having to take time off away from our business.  There were many different payment option’s available too, which made it easier to afford.  Having a personal trainer is a luxury, but if you make the sacrifices in other areas, it can be affordable.

Why do it in 12?

Many reason’s really, but the main one for me was that I didn’t like feeling the way I was feeling. Back ache, lethargy and also a BIG BIRTHDAY coming up in June.  After Christmas 2017,  I decided that I would make the decision to set some life changing goals.  I didn’t want a quick fix,  I wanted to make my goals achievable.  I realised that this year was make or break for me. I took one look in the mirror, and did not like what I saw.  Where and how did all that weight come from, in such a short space of time!!!  I knew in the back of my mind what I needed to do.

Any Potential Obstacles?

Recently opening a small business in the catering industry,  I was finding very difficult to have any quality time to myself.  My eating habits were a disgrace!!!! Grabbing food on the go, not always  the healthiest or the best food choices too.  Gone were the day’s where I actually ate healthily and took the time to sit and enjoy meals.  It’s the nature of the industry I’m afraid!

What was the biggest challenge during your journey?

My biggest challenge was not slipping back into old habits.  A persuasive husband who makes gigantic portions, has been quite challenging at times! It’s also having the will power to say no, and not pick, for the sake of picking.  There are 3 days in the week, where we can typically have a 17 hr plus working day, sometimes it’s difficult – especially when you are physically and mentally tired. But, I managed to motivate myself,  and remind myself of the purpose of doing this.  I wanted this experience to be life changing, not a temporary fix.

What have you enjoyed/disliked the most?

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the environment, as not daunting or overpowering.  An intimate gym, with a friendly atmosphere, and of course my personal trainer/s.  I loved the fact that photos were sent back and forth of meal’s I’d had during the day. I found this made me more and more conscious of making the right decisions when it came to food choices; but not only that, it encouraged me to use other ingredients and recipes too.  I often tried the recipes posted on the Motive8 website.  My favourite being the chocolate protein balls!  My absolute favourite exercise was the boxing, which Kate always saved until last (I think it was part of her plan to get me to work harder, with a reward at the end).  Kate has constantly kept me motivated, and kept the PT varied, and at times fun!!!

What Next?

My 12 week’s have finished.  Now to have a re-think, and set some goals for the future. The first priority is to MAINTAIN the weight loss, and continue with the healthy eating and exercise.  I now have only 1 PT session a week, so it’s down to me to continue with additional exercise at home, with a minimum of two sessions a week.
