I know that this might make it look like I need a life – but I actually fist-pumped the air when I saw the BBC News Headline “The slow cooker revolution” followed by “slow cookers are back in fashion“: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-38286715 “. Yipppeeeeeee!!! I love it when something comes out in the media which supports what we’re telling our clients. Clients are always after easier ways to prep their food, cook in bulk or they want minimal effort meals because they get home late….the answer is of course slow cookers!

Obviously you need to put some thought into what you’re going to cook in the slow cooker otherwise you may just end up eating a slop like substance you believed was going to be stew. But…once you’ve put your ingredients in and turned it on, that’s it! You don’t have to do anything other than your usual daily routine, and when you come home, your food will be ready – BOOM! You could even put something on to cook overnight so your breakfast is ready as soon as you get up – double BOOM!

The other benefit of slow cookers are that they really enhance the flavour of your food as any spices and herbs you use are absorbed into the food. And for you meat eaters out there, the meat used in slow cooker recipes is very tender.

Best of all – there are so many websites with healthy slow cooker recipes and tips to stop that stew look like brown slop. Some examples are below. Personally, I like the simplicity and I’m a big fan of a chick pea and lentil curry – slurp! So what are you waiting for – get that slow cooker out of the cupboard, give it a bit of a wash and get cooking!
