The following recipe is perfect when you need a hearty meal that is easy to cook and you can leave slow cooking away whilst you get on with your chores and tasks. The mixture of vegetables will provide you with many of your healthy nutrients, but you will also get a little treat from the ale marinated steak. This steak and ale casserole is a lower carb option that gives you the tastiness of any pub meal.

Ingredients

All you need is the following:

  • Carrots,
  • Celery,
  • Onion,
  • Any other vegetables you  fancy,
  • Stewing steak,
  • Beef stock,
  • 200ml of ale,
  • Thyme & parsley

Steak and Ale Casserole

Method

To make this easy dish follow these instructions:

  • Cut vegetables into desired chunks,
  • Fry off the vegetables until soft,
  • Fry off the steak until brown,
  • Add the steak and the vegetables into slow cooker,
  • Pour in 1 cup of beef stock,
  • Pour in 200ml of ale,
  • Add parsley and thyme,
  • Leave to cook on high for 4 hours.

This recipe gives you a tasty hit of a classic meat and vegetable pie without the carbohydrate of the pastry. It is perfect for batch cooking, freezing, and taking for lunches or teas.

Dig out that slow cooker, prepare all the vegetables, and simply let it stew…..Give it a go!!
