2011 was my stepdaughters 21st birthday after the fun and frivolities of the evening came the dreaded photographs!! Wow …

Fortunately soon after Christmas in early 2012 my employers decided to introduce an We’re Healthy Campaign which included the option to join a ‘healthy eating’ class.  Head in shame and denial in tow I got myself on the scales and embarked on my journey…  It wasn’t easy but Jenny helped me to understand how to make the right choices , how to weigh up what is important to me and very importantly how to achieve my goals.  The weight came off slowly to start with but eventually after 4-5 weeks I could start to feel a bit of a difference in my clothes.  After getting a little confidence I decided to introduce some exercise into my lifestyle.  It was tough & I needed the peer pressure that came with doing some Group Personal Training sessions with colleagues but  I eventually got into the routine I am in now, training 3-4 times a week including a run at the weekend- who knew?? If you’d have asked me a year prior to that whether I was into exercise I would have laughed in your face! 

Jenny & her team are all very knowledgeable and genuinely care about us as individuals.  All their advice is tailored & they really take an interest about you & what you’re trying to achieve and are constantly encouraging you to achieve those goals.

I’m now 3 stone lighter than I was and have stayed that way for 18 months now… I’m still on my journey but know with the help of the Motive8 team I’ll get there!

If someone had told me a year ago that I would be in a size 12 I would have laughed at them! It was only when a good friend expressed a concern that I should look after myself that I decided to google personal trainers and found Jenny. With my 30th birthday rapidly approaching and my career beginning to take off; I didn’t want to be known as the ‘fat teacher’. Being a large size 18, I was lazy, rarely slept through a whole night and always seemed to be thirsty. I knew I needed to make some big changes.

At my first consultation, Jenny spoke about making life style changes rather that this being a quick fix. I made it clear that I was concerned with my overall look and how I felt rather than the numbers on the scales and Jenny respected this. Over the past year, she has educated me and helped me develop a more positive relationship with food and exercise. I know what is good for my body and how hard to push myself in my own workouts.

Our sessions include anything from running and interval training in the park or boxing in my front room and lots of toning work. Jenny creates personalised programmes for me to follow outside of the sessions. Of course, it’s not all been easy. I had to keep up my side of the deal and ensure I got in my 3 sessions a week on my own. Everyone has off weeks or times when it is harder to fit the exercise in but Jenny remained positive and kept me focused on what I needed to do.

To date, I have lost around 3 stone and 55 inches. I have maintained my dress size at a size 12 for over a year now and I feel brilliant!

Jenny is professional and hard working. Finding Jenny is one of the best things that I have ever done and I feel I have a lot to thank her for. I would fully recommend working with Jenny to anyone.

I first used one of the Motive8 trainers (Jenny) when training for a triathlon back
in 2010. A happy side effect of my training was losing weight and
toning up. I achieved my target for the triathlon and started training by myself again.

When one of my best friends recently got engaged she really wanted to feel
comfortable for her big day. She had tried every fad diet under the
sun and knew that the only thing that had worked for me was having a
personal trainer. I got in touch with the personal training team at motive8 and Lucy became out trainer….and it is by far the best thing that we ever did!

Our sessions with Lucy have been really fun. We both had different
goals, but Lucy was great at running sessions which suited both of us.
Lucy was quick to re-educate us on what to eat, and how to use our
time most efficiently in the gym. Neither of us have lots of time to
exercise so we were really relieved to know we didn’t have to slog it
out on the treadmill for hours.

Lucy is very encouraging, and I never felt intimidated in the
sessions. I have been so pleased with the results. I have more energy,
I am stronger, fitter and healthier and I even think I eat MORE, it is just more of the right stuff! I would fully recommend Lucy and the Motive8 team to anyone. Whatever your

I was recommended Jenny Cromack at motive8 North to get in shape before my wedding by my fiancée. He had been training with her for a number of months on a recommendation from a friend. I have always been a gym-goer but wanted to maximise my results, and work on specific areas in relation to my wedding dress. I also had a suspicion that the work I was putting in at the gym wasn’t fulfilling it’s potential, and that I wasn’t training as smartly as I could do. I have a busy job and long erratic shifts and I wanted to maximise the results I got from the time I could spare to go to the gym in the busy run up to the wedding.  I met with Jenny to chat about my goals and discussed how motivated I was to achieve them, how much work and time this would require and what my training style was. Jenny then put together a programme which she went through with me, to specifically target my key areas, as well as improving general fitness and health. This changed every few weeks to keep me on my toes and to work with the equipment that was available at my gym. Another key part of my plan was food, examining my diet through food diaries and suggesting ways to change and improve. It’s amazing how much food you don’t realise is bad for you! I’ve been able to continue eating foods I like, and never gone hungry, but just making sure that I’m getting the nutrients I need, and cutting out the foods that were holding me back. Jenny has always been on hand to suggest alternatives and nice recipes and I’ve discovered all kinds of different new foods I didn’t know about. It’s really helped me be more imaginative in my meals, and never been boring tasteless ‘diet’ foods.

I won’t lie, it was hard work, and required commitment, but Jenny’s holistic approach and constant support (including restaurant recommendations with suggestions for menu options which wouldn’t undo all my hard work), I achieved my goals and more. I felt fantastic on my wedding day, my dress fitted perfectly, and I set off on honeymoon excited to get into my bikini! Jenny’s approach is very tailored to who you are, your lifestyle, what you want, how motivated you are to achieve it and how you want to get there.

A year on, I have maintained my new healthy diet and lifestyle, and both me and my husband still train with Jenny once or twice a week. I have recommended motive8 personal training to all my friends who are getting married, as I think it is the most effective way to get you looking and feeling fab on your big day and beyond!

Before I decided to get a personal trainer I had reached a point where fitness classes were making me feel burnt out, I felt like I was not making the strength gains I wanted, and I had really developed a liking for lifting weights but most classes didn’t focus on this or at least didn’t focus on the amount of weight I wanted to lift! I had a hard time deciding who I was going to train with from the motive8 team, but I chose Lucy because she  was eager to work with someone on building strength through heavy lifting (the goal). Like the rest of the team she also is dedicated to continue to develop her skills as a personal trainer and this made me feel I could trust her to help me reach my goals. I was amazed with how different I felt just in the first four weeks. Lucy taught me the importance of nutrition and the larger impact it has on my wellbeing, something I really struggled to do on my own. I also feel more confident after the gains I have made in my strength, I never would have thought I could bench press my body weight or deadlift and squat a couple kilos over it. The overall difference has not just been on my physical fitness but it has made a real impact on helping me deal with my stress as a part-time lecturer and as a PhD student – Lucy will be getting a big thank you in my thesis!)

My Motive8 experience has had a huge positive impact on my life. Before I googled’ Personal Trainers Leeds’ I was on the slippery slope of putting weight on through lack of exercise, working long hours and bad eating habits (including plenty of corporate lunches) when I decided something needed to change! Despite still working long hours I now train at least 4 times a week, have lost over two stone and am not afraid of the weights area it the gym! I still have to attend many corporate events, but I am educated about the food choices I should make so I can now maintain my weight.

I want to thank Jenny for all the effort, support and enthusiasm she has put into my programme and mission to be fit and fifty, not fat and fifty!f 

Without Jenny’s help it just wouldn’t have been possible for me to achieve the weight loss and fitness targets set for my big ‘FIVE-0’ birthday. During my initial consultation I told Jenny I didn’t want to be ‘fat and 50’ and she has helped me make sure I’m that I’m definitely not!!!! Not only have I achieved the initial targets set but I’ve also gone on to lose over 4 stone and a total of 74 inches so far! I’ve also dropped my body fat from a scary 38% to 24.5%

Jenny also encouraged me to take up running and this year I completed the Race For Life 5k, and now I’m training for a 10k….something which I didn’t believe was possible before I started my training sessions!!!

Two years ago I returned from my summer holiday fat, unfit and fed up. In a moment of madness I searched for ‘personal trainers Leeds’ online and came across motive8 North. I emailed Jenny and awaited a reply which duly arrived offering me support, guidance and the push I needed to change my life. During our initial meeting Jenny explained in amazing detail why I was being unsuccessful in managing my weight.

During the meeting we set a target of achieving a size 12 dress size. If you’d have asked me back then I’d never imagined that this was even a remote possibility never mind a reality, but Jenny was sure she could help me achieve this and sure enough she did!

The first session almost finished me off but Jenny was so amazingly supportive, setting challenging, yet realistic goals that I began looking forward to seeing her each week. Shortly after hiring Jenny as my personal trainer two of my daughters joined us on our training sessions.

All 3 of us now train together with Jenny on a weekly basis, whilst the sessions are hard work we also have good fun during them.

In 2010 I took part in two 10k events, with a time of 67 minutes and 69 minutes! I know this is not fast but for me it was amazing. When I first met Jenny I struggled to run 1k, let alone 10k!

Jenny is a constant support even when we’re not with her, with phone calls, texts and emails to offer encouragement and supplying whatever we need to succeed. I can honestly say she has changed my life. She is not a soft touch, gets the best out of us at every session and really does keep us on the straight and narrow – she gets us to achieve our goals!! Kath Vowden, Consultant Nurse – ME, FIT? – NEVER!!

I have struggled with my weight since being a child, so I have done lots of diets and attended many hours in a gym at various venues. 18 months ago a friend and I decided to plan an activity holiday, which demanded a level of fitness for us to enjoy. In an attempt to improve fitness I had a personal trainer at my local gym but found the sessions repetitive, not very motivating and I didn’t really understand what I was doing so progress was slow.

I started training at Motive8 through a friend’s recommendation and haven’t looked back! I train with Chris once per week and in 15 weeks I achieved my fitness goals, have exceeded my initial weight loss target and become a size and shape that I would never have believed possible. I even have strength and toned muscles, something I have never really had in my life!!

A personal training session with Chris is no ‘walk in the park’ but he is professional, totally motivating and encouraging. His workouts are always fun and he has a completely different regimen for every session that works every part of the body!

Chris has taught me so much about exercise he sets a weekly programme with smaller additional goals for me to achieve and the hard work certainly pays off with increased fitness levels, lost weight and feeling really good! Thanks Chris!

I have been struggling with my weight for the last 30 years; usually I can monitor my diet and lose the pounds. However since hitting 40 it’s not been that easy. Over the last 2 years I have tried various silly diets that will work for a week and then nothing happens. Finding motive8 is so much better than any gym or fad diet I have ever done.

I have always thought that I ate a very healthy diet but after following a diet plan that my personal trainer, Chris has set for me the weight is dropping off. He has shown me what a healthy diet really is and has made me aware of portion size as well as how many calories I need to burn to lose a pound of weight. It all now makes sense how I was putting on weight although I was eating a relatively healthy diet.

At the start of my training sessions I couldn’t run to the end of the street without stopping for breath but this year I completed the Leeds Abbey Dash! Chris sets me programs to improve my fitness and focus on weight loss and updates these every 6 weeks which gives me something to focus on when I’m not with him.

He always encourages me to work out of my comfort zone and our sessions are never the same which means they are never boring like gyms can be. Chris is often in contact to check on my progress and give encouragement through the week which keeps me on track.

My husband is now training with me each week, which is a MIRACLE, in his words ”anyone that can get the couch potatoes from in front of the TV is worth every penny”.

I started training with Jenny to help me get in shape and look great for my wedding day. I train with Jenny on a weekly basis and then follow a programme which she has set when I work out in the gym by myself.

I genuinely don’t think I could have got to where I have without Jenny’s motivation and guidance – in fact I know I couldn’t! It wasn’t through lack of trying before, it was perhaps through lack of understanding about the correct exercises to do and also maybe a lack of focus and motivation!

I really enjoy the weekly sessions with Jenny, especially the boxing aspect of the workouts, but don’t get me wrong as much as the sessions are enjoyable it has been hard work along the way too!! But the results speak for themselves and I felt really happy walking down the aisle in my wedding dress!

After coming back from travelling with a few spare tyres and unbelievably a bit of spare cash I decided to invest in a personal trainer. I searched people registered in Leeds and Jenny seemed to fit the bill of things I wanted to achieve – weight loss, inch loss to specific areas and an overall improvement in fitness. Knowing I wasn’t motivated enough to join a gym it was ideal that Jenny could train me in my home. We started training together at the end of Dec 2008 and I have not looked back since. I reached my target weight within 10 months of training, and have lost a total of 25 inches. I initially trained with Jenny to motivate me towards achieving my goals, however having got to where I want to be I still train with Jenny on a weekly basis to keep me focused and also so I can maintain the weight and dress size which I achieved.

We train together once a week, with our sessions being a combination of aerobic and toning work, and although we have worked together for over 18 months I still find them to be an excellent workout with a huge variety of challenging exercises.

Jenny is a fantastic motivator, she gets you to work hard without you realising it and even if I have an ‘off week’ she keeps me positive and focused to get back on track and achieve my goals. Jenny is always there for support outside of the training sessions, she is very approachable and available for advice. She is understanding and non-judgemental. I would recommend her highly to anybody.
