One of our long term clients at motive8 North recently started our Do It In 12 Programme. Ali has trained with motive8 for over 7 years. Initially losing almost 2 ½ stone, like many people, Ali found that her weight started to creep back on. Stress at work meant that the odd glass of wine with a few more at the weekend, started creeping back into Ali’s weekly diet. She was skipping workouts due to workloads and had little in the way of routine with her food. I must say her that Ali’s weight never went back to her original starting weight, but after putting almost a stone back on and then battling with trying to lose it for the last 12 months, enough was enough!  This September Ali decided she needed more structure to her diet and exercise and embarked on the Do It In 12 Programme. And boy has it worked! Here is an overview view of Ali’s journey and her Do It In 12 success.

The difference between Do It In 12 and regular personal training is that the client has to sign a contract and commit to sticking 100% to the programme. Goals are discussed at the start and then guidelines about what is needed to achieve these goals in the next 12 weeks are formed. If a client feels these guidelines are too strict then we are happy to negotiate, but it’s also recognised that this negotiation may result in different goals for the client.

 

Personalised exercise programmes and food plans are given every 4 weeks. Nutrition is mainly based around carb-cycling, and workouts based on the successful combination of resistance training and HIIT. Combine this with 2 weekly personal training sessions and you have the recipe for success.

In Ali’s case do It In 12 has helped her to break some bad habits (such as having a glass of wine on a night), give routine and structure to her lifestyle and invigorate some new life into her exercise routine. Ali now commits to training four times week – two with her personal trainer and then she comes along to two classes by herself. Gone are the excuses about why she hasn’t eaten healthily, as she is now super-prepared with her meals!

The transformation in Ali is fantastic, not only has she lost 1 stone in weight, 23.5 inches (this is amazing!) and almost 5% body fat but she is also sleeping better and has tonnes more energy – she may not think this when she has 10 minutes of a personal training session to go, but we can certainly work her harder in a session now!

What’s also been really interesting on Ali’s Do It In 12 journey is how she hasn’t found the programme a chore or too strict, it has just given her the routine and structure to achieve her goals. More importantly it has also given her confidence, even though Ali has lost a staggering 1 stone in 12 weeks, she now wants to go on an lose another 1/2 stone. Go for it Ali!
