I’m often asked ‘How do you become one of those motivated and dedicated people in the gym?’ After all, 99.9% of the time when you skip a workout or stop doing a programme it is because you were feeling lazy. Every individual will be motivated in different ways to keep on training; you need to find what works best for you. The problem generally comes 1 hour before your supposed to train, you start feeling tired all of a sudden and you throw in the towel. That’s when you whip out your phone and re-read these cues.

1. Bikini Season– Its only another 6 months until summer again, imagine how great it will feel when you take your shirt off or strut in that brand new bikini. Ask yourself truthfully, did you start going to the gym to prevent metabolic disease in 40 years or did you just want to feel good in your own skin? You could have that I promise you, all you have to do is win 90% of the battles with your head, make those gym sessions week in week out and believe me it will happen!

2. People Think They are Better than You- People including some of your friends, family and work colleagues will want you to quit, because its human nature to be envious of someone doing better for themselves than they are. Don’t give them the satisfaction! They will constantly try to sabotage your goals, “go on lets order a pizza” “lets have another drink” “lets go to the cinema instead of the gym” if you know anybody like that they are secretly sabotaging your goals! Don’t let them beat you……stay strong and you will achieve your goals!

3.Being Super Strong– Lets get really vain, now this applies to men and women one of the top reasons you shouldn’t quit is you will get really really strong if you keep training, not just physically but mentally. The endurance you build in the gym completing painful set after painful set, transfers over into the rest of your life. I was always told as a child that I was never to quit at anything, it’s a snow ball effect, once you quit one thing you start thinking it’s acceptable to quit anything. Once you open that door and start a challenge no matter what happens you see it through until you achieve the goal! Winners never quit!

4. Feel Good When You Run Into Old Friends– How many people do you know that gained weight after university or school or childhood. Don’t be one of those people, be the person your friends talk about because of the amazing shape your in. You need to be ready at all times as you have no idea when your next going to bump into someone, don’t leave it to a special occasion….. get in the gym now and get training.

5. Feeling Good About Yourself– Everybody knows that you’re not going to see a change in one week, but isn’t it weird that you suddenly find yourself posing in the mirror more. I will not name names but I’m sure most of you will relate. Now this isn’t a complete vanity thing, it’s much deeper, when you take your shirt off or wear that strappy dress that shows your shoulders and arms your proud of yourself for doing what you know to be the right thing.

SO work hard and remember winners never quit! Your always one session closer to achieving your goals!
