How Much Do You Want It?

Exercise

Exercise has become as natural to me as breathing, at the start of the week I look at my diary and find at least an hour every day where I can train my body. It became such an important part of my life that I decided I wanted to do it for a job, but how did I get here.
My friends and family always are commenting about how they need to start training or get back into running, lose weight, etc, etc….how many times have I heard this before?! Then the famous phrase is stated “I wish I was as motivated as you”. Then I think….. ‘How come you don’t, if you really want to improve your health or change your body shape why don’t you do it?’
After that initial high of starting a new plan or training program the inevitable happens, something crops up…..a dinner date, kids are misbehaving, the shopping needs to be done, its cold outside, it’s too warm outside, I’m feeling tired, it’s too late, I’ve had a hard day at work etc. I have heard a million different reasons….or should that be excuses?
I’m not trying to take away from how difficult life is. I know sometimes you’re pulling your hair out with stress, you’re so tired that you can barely keep your eyes open and you’ve got so much going on in your mind you can’t even comprehend leaving your house or desk for 30minutes. That’s when you’ve got to ask yourself do you really want this? And if you do then you’ll stop making these excuses and put your training regime first!
If you really want those goals, and  I mean really want them, you will do whatever it takes to achieve these goals. Whether its weight loss, improved physique, becoming  leaner or more muscular then change your life for the positive and do something about achieving these goals. Sometimes that means sacrificing  something else and not making excuses. Yes it might be cold and wet and you’ve got to get out for that run. Or you really don’t want to get up when that 5am alarm rings for your gym session. Maybe that stack of paperwork might have to wait so you can spend your dinner break doing a hard training session. But believe me, these sacrifices will be worth it when you start to look and feel great. Just think of those endorphins buzzing around your body at the end of a session and how good this makes you feel!
I’m sure at some point in your life you’ve wanted something so bad you forget to make breakfast, to run that errand, to see those friends, to spend that weekend relaxing. When you want those health and fitness goals that bad you will achieve them, I guarantee it nothing will get in your way. I’m talking about when you’re really want it though don’t confuse it with I’d like to do it but I can’t commit to the hard work.
The problem comes when you kind of want something, I kind of want to get fit and lose weight but I’d rather watch TV tonight, I kind of want to tone up but I’d rather go and see my friends tonight,  I want to build some rock hard muscle but I think I’ll have a few beers tonight….this is when you don’t achieve your goals.
So make sure you set those goals and that you really want it, without that drive it’s going to take twice as long and be twice as stressful.
