How To Keep Motivated!

Training in any shape or form is both a mental and physical challenge, for the majority of people it isn’t a case of completing the session once it has been started , the challenge comes from getting of the sofa, putting those trainers on and leaving the house. So here are some tips to give you that kick to keep you on track with that training plan.

1. Set goals– I know Jenny and myself are constantly setting you targets but it is very important to understand what motivates you to train, it could be a new personal best in a race, better fitness or weight loss. It is important that proper goal setting is applied daily in your training; the goals should be specific, realistic and measurable. Daily goals could be instead of completing my run I’m going to focus on breathing and relax through the training session. Every morning when I wake up I like to set myself a new goal, this could be anything from trying a new recipe, to running a route 10seconds faster or even not getting stressed about my race pace

2. Keep track– Record your progress, how much weight you have lifted, the size of your clothes etc. Then as the weeks go buy and the numbers change you can really see the difference. Then next time you’re struggling to motivate yourself to train look through your log book and look at all that great progress you have made. What a kick!

3. Share goals– tell friends and family what your goals are. Any reinforcement and encouragement is better for training also they will be the first person to call you out if you fail to complete a training session. Feel the love!

4. Keep good company– Schedule a training date with a friend or special man or woman! Let the competitiveness within come out, whether you like to believe it or not humans are a competitive species we love to challenge others in any way shape or form. Release the primal ancestor!

5. Make it personal– Everyone has one reason or another for training their body, its important to know what makes you most happy when your training, is it friends a personal trainer etc? Then simply multiply the times you train like that, simples! You need to work out what inspires you, what drives you and you will never feel de-motivated ever again!
