MOTIVE8 NORTH HOST THE WARM UP AT THE HAREWOOD 10K!
On Wednesday last week I received a call from one of the race organisers for the Age UK, Wrap Up and Run, Harewood 10k asking whether motive8 North would like to hold the warm up before the run.
Feeling rather nervous but excited I said yes…….what an awesome opportunity and I knew that Kate Halsall with her many years of teaching aerobics would be well up for it!! I also needed to do a 6 mile run on Sunday anyway so I may as well do the 10k too!!
On Friday we practiced our routine. I haven’t taught aerobics for at least 7 years so Kate was given the job of choreographing a routine which would be easy for the crowd to follow but also energising and fun!! Plenty of opportunities to clap, whoop and yeah!! My job was to copy Kate, stay in time and then, with my running back ground, perform a more run specific warm up….knees high, heels to bum, etc!
So Sunday morning came, and rather than feel nervous about the actual run (which is how I normally am!) I was feeling extremely nervous about performing a warm up in front of 1500 runners….yes that’s right….1500!!! Yikes!!
The guy on the stage was working the crowd, preparing them for the warm up and then he shouted out and over to Jenny & Kate…..well at that moment all of the nerves were forgotten and there we were doing aerobics in front of 1500 runners!! Wow!! Kate was amazing she had the crowd smiling and cheering. Looking out at the sea of people in front of us was amazing everyone seemed to be enjoying it, and didn’t even mind when I messed up my heel digs at the end of the routine!!
Bring on the next one!!
