Motive8 North’s 1st Year!

I can hardly believe that motive8 North’s has been up and running for just over a year now – Happy Birthday to us! Such a lot as happened in that time and I have learned a huge amount too.

When Nick first suggested we create motive8 North I was excited but also a little nervous…..what if we weren’t successful? But, we have had a great year and I am even more excited about the things we have coming up in the future and watching the business grow over the next few years!

Before setting up motive8 North I worked as a freelance personal trainer inLeeds, as Jenny Cromack Personal Training. It was just little old me, I didn’t have any staff to worry about, the income I made was mine and the tax man’s and I had to manage my own diary.

Now I have a team of 3 excellent personal trainers to manage, I’ve had to dust off some managerial skills from when I was a health club manager, and I hope I am doing a job. I’m sure there are days when I don’t get it quite right, but this is a learning curve for me too! I’ve got to grow our personal training business as there is not only me to keep busy with personal training sessions, but Chris, Kate and Lisa too! Before, I relied purely on the internet and recommendations to bring me new clients, now I have to be a bit more creative and find new leads through promotions, approaching other businesses, organising events, etc.

Since I first started as a personal trainer 7 years ago there is a lot more competition between personal trainers inLeeds, this seems more so in the past couple of years. Motive8 North are at the higher end of the market which may put some people off but I feel we are still great value for money. For us, it’s not just about turning up and performing a personal training session with our clients, but about the support we provide outside of these sessions. We are always in touch with our personal training clients to make sure they are staying on track with their training, we provide nutritional and weight loss plans, send out weekly recipes and organise sporting events to give our clients goals to focus on. And, most importantly we get amazing results with our clients.

In addition to opening our first personal training studio at Holbeck Urban Village, Leeds we have also installed a residential gym at Saxton Gardens, Leeds where we conduct personal training, gym inductions and run bootcamps for the residents.

The studio atHolbeckUrbanVillageis also getting busier, we are welcoming new personal training clients who are loving their sessions and seeing fantastic results. The classes are popular, we have found our class participants surprisingly don’t enjoy Zumba or Aerobics, they want classes such as Circuit Training, Bootcamps and Boxing Classes.

We also have a small gym membership too, this is great for those people who work or live nearby who personal training or classes don’t appeal to but still want a motivating environment in which to work out. All of our gym members receive great attention when they come to the studio, they have their own personalised exercise programme to follow and enjoy their workouts! Forget about swiping your card, entering the gym and doing the same thing that you’ve been doing for the past 12 months….here our members get results!

One of our objectives when we first opened the studio was to create a workout environment which has a friendly, community feel but people still get great results and I believe we have achieved this.
