This month we have a joint award for Gym Member of The Month. It goes to two people who are quite frankly, the motive8 double act. Tom and Rory have a great balance of working to hard and offering a great atmosphere to the gym. They are the perfect example of how having a gym buddy can really help you in your training.

How long have you been a member of the motive8 gym?

R – Since January I think.

T – 2 years in January – But I’ve only been coming regularly for about 9 months!

Why do you train at the motive8 gym?

R –  It’s right next to where I work and it’s got everything I need in there to get a real pump on.

T – It’s next to my work so I have no excuses not to go, oh and the banter is pretty great, apart from Chris. And there is plenty of room for me to dance between sets.

What was your goal when you started at the gym?

R – This award

T – Trim down so my mates would stop ribbing me for getting fat. I used to be an athlete you know….

What is your current goal?

R – To continue going 3-4 times a week so I can wear EVEN tighter T-shirts.
Not be too top heavy!

T – Buy a ticket to Shredsville… Ha! On a serious note, I’ve built strength and bulked up a fair bit, I really want to start focusing on getting lean now.

What’s your biggest accomplishment since you have been training?

R – Being able to walk over to the big boy weights at the start of a weights session.
T- Having to buy some new clothes. My trousers kept falling down, without my permission.

This months client of the month is Dave Kelly. Dave trains with Lucy and has lost 13lbs since starting training and as you can see is looking great! Well done Dave!

What made you decide to get a personal trainer?

For advice and motivation. I have trained before and you tend to repeat the same things when you work out by yourself.

How long have you been training with Lucy?

I started training with Lucy in July.

What was your goal when you started training?

My goals where simply to get fitter and lose some weight.

What is your current fitness goal?

My current goals are the same but would also like to tone up more.

What is your proudest accomplishment in your training?

I think just seeing the improvement I’ve made.

What have you found hard during your personal training experience ?

The hardest part was the decision to do something in the first place.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting personal training?

My advice would be to do it!

What is Lucy like as a personal trainer?

Lucy is great. I love the variety in all our sessions, and her knowledge of the subject.

If you had to give your PT an exercise or workout to do what would it be?

She’s already done it, the tyre flipping!!

Class Member of the Month

Carla Clark

This months class member of the month is Carla. Carla is a fantastic addition to any class and always puts 100% into her workouts. Go Carla!

How long have you been attending classes?
I have been attending the classes for around 2 and a half months, (since the beginning of August.)

What classes do you attend?

I attend Circuits, Boot camp and the 20/20/20 classes, I also try to come to the lunchtime classes whenever I can fit them in.

What is your favourite class?

I think my favourite class is the 20/20/20 as I really enjoy the boxing!

What is your favourite exercise?

My favourite exercise is anything boxing related (I seem to have lots of pent up aggression, anyone who has peed me off that day will “get it” on the pads!
I also (randomly) enjoy the “piggy backing”. Sorry I know you only asked for one favourite exercise but I have to mention the tyre flips and hammer too (anything that involves brute force)

What is your least favourite exercise?

My least favourite exercise is anything that involves running, I’m rubbish at it and it makes my face look like a big red blotchy tomato!

What makes you attend motive8 classes?

The motive8 classes are different to any other gym or class I’ve ever been to before as the people who work there and the other members are a fantastic set of people!

When I first joined everyone made me feel welcome and offered lots of support and encouragement. When the people you are training with are good fun it makes the time fly by. I actually look forward to going to the classes as not only are the exercises varied and challenging everytime, I also enjoy the banter.

I also find training outside more interesting as you have to battle with the elements on occassion which all adds to the fun.

I have to say thanks to Martin Shippin for introducing me to Motive8 🙂
