Welcome to the inside ramblings of my mind. This was my inner dialogue from last week and I thought it was worthy content to share.  Important content in fact. All the reasons why I love my body and why you should love your body too!

Love your body:

  • Our bodies are high-performance machines. We don’t really think about this but they are incredible. Nature in all its wonder. From birth to death our “vehicle” carries us through life and can achieve crazy and miraculous things. Even the “simple” act of walking I find amazing. One foot in front of the other and you could keep going and going. But they can balance, jump, sprint, dance, go in all directions. They can reproduce to create more life.  Our bodies function without any control. Every cell in your body literally working 24/7 to keep you alive (now that’s love).
  • Why do we not nourish and respect our bodies like the high-performance machines that they are? If we had spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on a car, we would only put the best fuel in it and keep it in perfect running order. But somehow we don’t see the “value” of our bodies. But there is no price, they are invaluable.  We should really consider this more when making food choices and also physical activity.
  • The other thing we always seem to neglect is injury and sickness. Making the comparison with a car again, if we were told we needed to spend £500 to fix it, we would pay because we “need” it.  No, we NEED our bodies. And we need them to last our lifetime. And yet the physio or a sports massage or whatever is “too expensive”. I tell you, it’s a good investment.
  • What I’ve learned is if you treat your body with loving kindness it responds back. I know when I nourish my body with the right fuel I’m returned with vital energy. In yoga when I push my body beyond its limit the body creates its own space which brings freedom and movement. When I have a structured weights programme then my body grows and builds strength which also allows me to do more incredible things with it.
  • Stop judging your body! It’s a precious, precious gift. The chances of you actually existing as you, are more than 1 in 400 quadrillions. And you think your thighs are too big!

There is a lot we can’t change about ourselves so it’s best we start loving all those beautiful parts of us that we hate instead. For all the reasons above and more. Your body loves you so much and really does its best to get you through life. Let’s all start appreciating and loving our bodies a little more, inside and out.
