Does this sounds familiar….?

It gets to the end of October and you realise it’s nearly Hallowe’en. Once you’ve finished panicking and faffing with costumes, you notice that there is nothing in the house that you can give those pesky kids if they turn up at your door (after all, you don’t have bad food in the house!). So you go to the nearest supermarket and buy a load.

Now you’ve got treats in the house.

So you eat a couple – what’s a few sweets going to do?

Then you only get 3 trick or treaters who actually turn up, so now you’re left with a load of sweet treats.

After eating a few more you take them to work so your colleagues can share the load, or you just eat them over the course of a week – you go to the gym so it’s ok right?!

Wrong! If you knew just how many burpees you would need to have to do to burn off the extra calories from those trick or treat sweets – it may put you off…….

Haribo Trick or Treat

Per 25g portion (there’s 11 in the packet) – 85.5 Calories, 19.25g of carbs (of which 12g are sugar) = 8 mins of Burpees PER BAG

Mars Variety Funsize Bags

So this is the problem of  ‘funsize’ bags such as M&Ms, Maltesers, Mini Twix and Mars Bars, Skittles etc. Funsize makes them sound like there isn’t much in them (go on it doesn’t matter if you eat them!) but each portion is around 20g and you’re looking between 60 and 100 calories = 10 mins of Burpees PER “FUNSIZE” bag. Ouch!

Cadbury Heroes Treatsize

You know the ones – “treatsize” Flake, Crunchie, Fudge and so on. The portions vary between 11 and 20g, which mean so do the calories. However, with the lowest bar containing 55 calories and the highest 80, you’re looking at = 5-8 minutes of Burpees PER “TREATSIZE”

If you’re going to have those treats then I hope you like Burpees!!

**This is worked out on the premise that one minute of PROPER burpees burns approx. 10 calories! In terms of numbers of Burpees, people do between 10-20 GOOD burpees a minute.
