Wednesday 18th August marks international “Never Give Up Day”, who knew? From the website it is quoted that:

Never Give Up Day is about a mindset of determination to help us get through even the hardest of challenges. It’s about motivating others, inspiring ourselves and remembering that even in hard times, the hardest, we can keep going.

And I feel this is appropriate to so many of us right now.

This last year and a half has affected everyone. No matter how resilient you are. We’ve all had so many challenges. Not seeing loved ones, struggling with physical health, mental health, motivation, fatigue, changes in work circumstance, home schooling, to name a few. New changes are always coming in and it is now another hard adjustment/challenge to re-emerge.

We have hopefully got through the worst of it. Something I like to tell myself when I feel scared or when I’m struggling is  “up until this point I’ve got a 100% survival rate, you can do this”.

We are living in a new world now. What adjustments do you need to make to start integrating this new way of being? As with most things the hardest part is just starting. Maybe you used to go to the gym 6 times a week, now you haven’t trained for a year. Can you be kind to yourself and start with one session a week? Maybe your friend has lost their motivation, can you invite them to train/walk with you? Do you need to join a class to get motivation back? Are you still working from home? Maybe changing the room around to refresh your scene, taking a walk in breaks or trying to get into the office once or twice a week?

Don’t feel guilty for resting. Resting is productive, especially when we’re all dealing with pandemic fatigue.

Talk to friends and family. As human beings we NEED social connection. Don’t feel guilty for not having the perfect diet. Don’t feel guilty for not delivering the perfect home schooling programme. Know you are stronger than you think. You have just survived through one epic part of history!

Just remember that even in the hardest times you can get through it. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. Keep on keeping on. You are awesome!
