A couple of week’s ago we posted on our member of the month, Abi Bolton and her dramatic weight loss results for her wedding. You can read here the reasons why she was nominated and chosen; but thought I would share with you how we created the journey to success – how to lose weight, and how to smash your goals.

The journey to success

  • Abi came to me in January (2018) with a weight loss goal for June (2018) when she would have one of her final wedding dress fittings. She wanted to lose 2 stone which was a realistic target for the time we had. All of these things fell into SMART goals (we’ve written loads of blogs on goal setting).
  • Abi signed up to one of our Do-It-In-12 packages. Provided you put in all the hard work which is required from you, results are guaranteed. And it really is our most successful package compared to a block of PT sessions.
  • With Do-it-in-12 you are committed to two PT sessions a week as well as agreeing to a number of extra sessions outside of this. Normally 1 or 2, then I encourage clients to achieve extra daily activity like hitting 10,000 steps a day.
  • I/we work with all clients as individuals meaning training sessions and nutrition support are tailored to suit them.
  • Getting nutrition right is essential to achieving fat loss. You NEED to be in a calorie deficit (another blog) but there are many ways of achieving that. The most successful diets are the ones you can adhere to. And sometimes this is a case of trial and error.
  • For Abi we used My Fitness Pal to track all her food. We also worked to hit a protein target to aid training, recovery and also satiation. I helped Abi to make better food choices and prepare more of her own meals. Abi set calories to as low as she could manage on most days then interspersed this with very low calorie days. But we did have a few diet breaks where Abi relaxed her diet and didn’t track.
