Drum roll please…….our member of the month for July goes to Emily’s personal training client, Abigail Bolton.

We asked PT Emily why she had nominated Abi, and here’s what she said…..

Abi came to me wanting to lose weight for her wedding. We started in January and had until September. After starting with me, Abi had a whole world of personal issues that hindered her progress. I could see this was affecting her motivation and I’m sure she was close to giving up, but with plenty of reassurance, encouragement and understanding she stuck with it and we have now exceeded what she first set out to achieve.
The first wedding dress she tried on was a size 12, she managed to get this changed to a size 10 and when she went in for the final fitting the ladies barely recognised her!! They actually said if they had met her now they probably would’ve ordered a size 6 and that she had probably had the most dramatic weight loss they have seen.
Not only is Abi‘s weight loss a massive achievement but it is how her confidence has grown, generally and in the gym. She didn’t want to train when there were people in the gym before, and whilst she still prefers it quiet she doesn’t mind people being in the gym now. She also was brave enough to go on a fitness holiday and really saw what she was capable of achieving. I also love how Abi challenges herself, she doesn’t hesitate to ask to increase the weights or just gives anything a go that I suggest.
I believe she has learnt so much about training, nutrition, the importance of goals, consistency and the value of having a personal trainer to support her through her journey. I kept saying to her with everything she had to deal with, as hard as it has been, she’ll be able to look back and see how strong and determined she was and know that she is literally capable of achieving anything she wants.

We also got the low down from Abi about why she trains at motive8

Why did you start working out with motive8?

I had a set goal for where I wanted to get to, and Motive8 and Emily my PT has helped me achieve that goal, by offering support, advice on nutrition and changing up my workouts to target specific areas that I wanted to work on – my fitness has drastically improved since I started.

How long have you trained at motive8?

I started training at Motive8 in January so it’s been 7 months now

Do you have any particular goals you are working towards?

I wanted to drop 2 dress sizes for my wedding and improve my fitness, I’m now in size 8 clothes (previously a size 12 verging on 14) and my fitness has drastically improved.

What is your biggest accomplishment since starting your PT sessions?

Losing 2 and a half stone and being able to do lengthy HIT sessions without feeling like I’m going to throw up ha!

If you had to give one piece of advice to a gym newbie who is a bit nervous about joining a gym what would it be?

It is really hard at first if you’re particularly unfit like I was, so prepare yourself mentally that you will find it hard initially but if you power through the pain and focus on your goal you will feel it get easier after 3-4 weeks and will feel yourself getting fitter. Don’t give up even if you feel like you’re having an off day/week as the results will definitely come with consistency!

What is your favourite exercise? Do you have any you don’t like?

I enjoy the weight training and feeling stronger as a result, the HIT is what I’ve always found hardest but now that I’m fitter I don’t find it as hard anymore!

We are sure you will agree the pictures speak for themselves, what a transformation!!
