excuse

An article on my web browser caught my eye today about the types of excuses that people make for the reasons they don’t exercise.   There’s no point in denying it – we all have them…..”I’m too tired”, “it’s raining and too cold”, “I should have gotten up earlier to go” “my muscles hurt too much” (almost my excuse this morning!) – what’s your excuse?

According to this article, you’re not alone! To be fair, the survey didn’t bring up anything that I hadn’t expected. Work getting in the way was the second most popular excuse and surprise surprise, cost was top on the list. But let’s look at cost in closer detail. The cost of gym membership ranges from £10.00 to £100.00 (and possibly even more depending on where in the country you are based). There are obviously opportunities to exercise outside of the gym environment, but that opens up another whole range of excuses!

Out of interest I did an internet search on “free fitness Leeds”. Park Run didn’t appear in the list that was returned…but if you didn’t know Park Run is a FREE 5k timed run, for adults and children across the country. For more information, here is their site: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/

But not all of us like running or can run; and we’ve previously blogged about exercise and fitness being available to all. So here’s what’s interesting people of Leeds – there is FREE exercise available to you! And this is why I love the internet as I had never heard of this. Leedletsgetactive is an initiative set up to get the inactive active. This is open to all by providing free access to leisure centres and community sports – what a brilliant idea! Here’s the timetable if you know someone who would benefit from this: http://www.leeds.gov.uk/sports/Pages/Leeds-Lets-Get-Active.aspx

And don’t forget, here at Motive8 not only do we help to provide access to a number of events, but we also provide a FREE workout every Wednesday, we also hold FREE events for members AND their friends and families: we’ve got the Motive8 Games in the summer, but we’re just fixing dates for some other events so stay tuned!
