Sophie is a regular to the classes here at motive8 – both in person and on-line. Her dedication to these sessions has seen her turn up rain or shine. And it was in last weeks pouring down rain as the only participant in the weekly “Box-IT” class, where she showed her true grit. It was a no brainer but to nominate her as Member of the Month.
We hear you like training in the rain?!
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning how to TRAIN in the rain” – I’ve created my own inspirational quote! Can you tell I’ve been working night shifts aha! (thanks Sophie – I’m going to steal that for motivational Monday!! KH)
Are you training for anything in particular at the moment?
I’m not training for anything particular at the moment. Being completely honest, I did very little exercise before I joined the gym last year. I joined the gym because I wanted to use exercise to improve my mental health. I’m now over a year in and I can happily say it worked! I’m now continuously working towards become fitter, stronger and healthier.
Why do you enjoy training at motive8?
I love the outdoor classes! It makes such a difference to being in the fresh air. I think motive8 has a real personal touch (especially when Beth runs with me holding an umbrella!) Everyone is really friendly. The whole team are fab, all the trainers push you to be your best and keep the sessions fun and fresh. The PT sessions with Kate are amazing, no session is the same and she’s got me doing exercises I never thought I’d be able to do!
It also helps that I pretty much live next door!
We hear you’re just as bad at counting as Kate?
I frequently have to make up how many reps I’ve done! I blame Kate for talking too much!
If you had one piece of advice for someone looking to become fitter or someone new to exercise, what would it be?
You might dread going to the gym to begin with, but you always feel great when you’ve finished your workout so just keep going, it’s a marathon not a sprint!
