Introducing our newest member of the month, Tom Bickley. Not only does he work his socks off in our classes, but he is also smashing his personal training sessions with Josh. His positive attitude is infectious and we’re loving watching his progress.

How long have you trained at motive8?

I used to train at the Saxton gym years ago but I’ve been back at motive8 since June this year.

What is it that you enjoy about training at motive8?

The progress I’ve experienced in the last 5 months has been amazing for my confidence and mental health. Josh has been great at setting targets for me and hitting those goals has been really rewarding. The trainers are friendly and knowledgeable which makes for a much more positive atmosphere than you get at some gyms.

How have the team at motive8 helped you progress towards your goals?

I’ve tried to stick to a couple of lunch time classes a week alongside a 45 minute PT session. This has been really effective and I can definitely feel the difference of sticking with a routine. The classes have really helped my general strength and fitness which has allowed me to really progress in my training sessions.

Finally, what advice would you give someone thinking about training at motive8?

Working with a trainer really gives you the drive and support that can help you step things up in the right way. I’ve always found fitness in general pretty intimidating so working in small groups and with a knowledgeable team of trainers is really reassuring. I would absolutely recommend starting with some PT sessions for that initial confidence and then combining with classes to build on it more!

Josh says:

I’ve been training Tom for the last 5 months an his progress has been outstanding. Tom always arrives for his sessions ready to smash through whatever I’ve got planned and is always keen to learn proper technique and know why we’re doing what we’re doing.

This sense of determination has meant he’s achieved some impressive strength goals (130kg deadlift and 72.5kg bench press) with lots more to come!

Massive well done Tom from all the team. Keep up the great work.
